Water Jet Monitors Explained
A water jet monitor is a fixed-position, aimable firefighting device that delivers a high-volume directed water stream — used where a hand-held branch pipe doesn’t have the reach or flow capacity a fire risk demands. Jaideo Automation supplies the NewAge Water Jet Monitor.
How It Works
Built around a bronze swivel joint with stainless steel ball bearings for smooth, low-friction aiming, the monitor connects to a flanged water supply inlet. An operator (or, on larger installations, a remote control system) aims the stream using the full range of motion — 360-degree horizontal rotation and +80/-45 degree vertical rotation — giving complete coverage of the area it protects.
Locking for Fixed Coverage
A locking device holds the monitor in a fixed horizontal or vertical position once aimed, letting it deliver sustained, unattended coverage of a specific target area rather than requiring continuous manual aiming.
Where Water Jet Monitors Are Used
- Industrial facilities with high fire risk — chemical plants, fuel storage, warehouses with dense combustible storage
- Perimeter protection around high-value or high-hazard equipment
- Locations needing high-volume flow beyond what hand-held branch pipes can deliver
- Fixed installations where consistent, repeatable coverage of a specific area matters more than mobility
Specification
Rated for 150 PSI maximum working pressure, flanged inlet connection, bronze/stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
Where This Fits
For hand-held, mobile firefighting equipment instead, see our Branch Pipes guide and Fire Hose Nozzle Types guide. A monitor’s flanged supply line is normally isolated with a fire protection valve — see our Fire Protection Gate Valves guide or the Wafer Type Butterfly Valve. Where foam is needed alongside plain water, see the Aqua Foam Nozzle and Jet Ratio Controller Pump.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a water jet monitor?
A water jet monitor is a fixed-position, aimable firefighting device that delivers a high-volume directed water stream, used where hand-held equipment doesn’t have sufficient reach or flow capacity.
What range of motion does a water jet monitor have?
NewAge water jet monitors offer 360-degree horizontal rotation and +80 to -45 degree vertical rotation, giving complete coverage of the protected area.
Can a water jet monitor be locked in a fixed position?
Yes, a locking device holds the monitor in a fixed horizontal or vertical position once aimed, allowing sustained, unattended coverage of a specific target area.
