The York YD is a dual centrifugal chiller using two York centrifugal compressors operating in parallel on a common set of heat exchanger shells, delivering large chiller capacities of 1,500 to 6,000 tons (5,300-21,000 kW) – well above the single-compressor YK’s 3,000-ton ceiling. This is York’s choice for large central plants needing higher capacity at real-world conditions, with energy consumption as low as .20 kW/TR and a footprint roughly 25% smaller than comparable large-capacity chillers. Optional Optispeed variable-speed drive improves part-load efficiency by up to 13% and can nearly double the chiller’s usable range in some regional voltage markets.
